YOUTH MINISTRIES COMMITTEE
VISION
God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, calls us to nurture
the covenant youth of classis Hamilton to grow in their knowledge and love of
Jesus Christ and to join Him in his great work of reconciliation.
MISSION
The mission of the Classis Hamilton Youth Committee is to be
used by God to promote and facilitate the development and growth of healthy,
vibrant Youth and Young Adult Ministries in Classis Hamilton congregations.
MANDATE
- to encourage and
assist the local churches of Classis in the development, maintenance, growth,
and renewal of their youth (gr.’s 9-12), College & Careers and Young Adult
Ministries (post high -25yrs)
- to serve as liaison between Classis and the various areas of youth and
young adult ministry to promote and support mutual ministry as outlined in The
Youth Ministry Committee mandate
- to coordinate the Classis Hamilton Youth Services.
- to listen to the concerns of Classis, youth ministry groups, or from
individual churches – specifically in the area of youth and young adult
ministries
- to weigh and determine the greatest areas of need and respond to these voices
in a timely fashion.
- to make recommendations to Classis which reflect youth-ministry needs based
upon the nurturing model
- to encourage and promote leadership training for youth leaders
- to communicate with the denominational Youth-Ministry Committee concerning
matters of mutual concern
- to establish an "as needed" budget on an annual basis which will promote
youth and College & Careers ministry and which will support the work of the
Classical Youth Ministry Committee
MAKEUP

The committee shall consist of a minimum of 5 members who
reflect the commitment and expertise that Classis deems necessary, preferably
from each of the following areas of ministry: 1 high school age teenager, 1
youth educator, 1 College & Careers representative, 1 elder/classis
representative, and I pastor. There will also be a fluctuating number of
at-large positions. The committee shall appoint a secretary and a
chairperson/convener. Terms: 3 year terms with option to renew.

The committee shall also see that 2 members serve as delegates to the OYMC
(Ontario Youth Ministries Committee).
