Report of the January 25, 2005 Meeting of Classis Hamilton Held at Calvin CRC, Dundas

Classis Hamilton 'continued' its January agenda on the evening of January 25, 2005, for the specific purpose of examining Candidate Paul Vandenbrink. Vandenbrink had been extended, and had accepted, a 'call' to serve as pastor in the Calvin CRC, Dundas. The process includes a formal and public examination in practical matters regarding faith, personal walk with the Lord, and sense of calling (eg. relevance of ministry, loyalty to the CRC). Two Classis appointed sermon critics report on the candidate's ability to write and deliver sermons and to lead public worship. That is followed by a final public examination as to the candidate's Biblical and theological judgment, competence and soundness. In addition to the delegates, there were many visitors present as well, including good representation from Calvin CRC. Vandenbrink sustained the examination and was given unanimous approval by Classis. We congratulate both Paul Vandenbrink and the Calvin CRC and wish them God's richest blessing as they begin their journey in ministry together. The ordination service will take place on Wed, Feb 9, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. in the Calvin CRC, Dundas.
